Roger Alden Anderson received a strong Choral and Theory background from Westminster Choir College (BM Degree), he also has an MA degree in Music of Higher Education from NYU.
He has over over thirty years experience teaching and directing choral and instrumental music, music theory and musical theater. He has worked with secondary students, at the college level, and with older adults. These experiences include: Director of Choral and Instrumental Activities at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church for six years, where he directed the Chancel Choir (70 singers), a smaller, contemporary group (“Joyful Noise”) and a 20-plus piece orchestra.
As director of the community based, San Elijo Chorale at Mira Costa College for seven years, Roger collaborated with several school and community performers, including the North Coast Symphony and dancers at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. The SCPA dancers joined our San Elijo Chorale on tour in Spain, interpreting African-American spirituals and concert pieces in dance as they and the choir performed in churches and cathedrals.
As a composer and visual artist, He collaborated with dance faculty at the San Diego SCPA, where my music was used along with my artwork for a 20-minute dance and video work performed at the Lyceum Theater in spring 2014. For this project, He created an instrumental album inspired directly from my dancer drawings entitled, “Today Is My Dancing Day.”

Collaborations with community groups have been a very important part of his career as a music educator and director. He is currently Director of Music at Rincon Middle School, where he teaches and directs choir, band, and general music. He prepares his students with a firm musical foundation, including theory, solfege, opera history and multicultural music. Many of his students go on to perform music in high school and college. Mr Anderson has organized and directed the Honor Choir and Honor Band performances at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. One of the best examples of this community collaboration is the annual Marine Band Honor Band Concert, where all the top students in the district perform separately and then combine to perform with the Marines at the Center for The Arts Escondido.
